SERDANG, 29 0gos- Putra Science Park, UPM showcased three technologies in conjunction with the 1st Research Officers National Symposium (ReONS) 2022 on 29 August 2022 at the Mini Auditorium, Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UPM.

Prof. Dr. Mohd Adzir, Director of Research Management Centre, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) said the symposium aims to empower and inspire research officers from research universities in Malaysia as leading scientists in the future.

At this exhibition, UPM showcased the Soil Prop: Soil Properties Mapping System technology developed by Dr. Ezrin Mohd Husin from the Faculty of Engineering. The technology is an application-based system that can generate soil fertility maps in real time and can be displayed directly on a computer screen installed on the machinery. Through this system, farmers can easily identify the appropriate level of soil fertility and fertilizers for effective agricultural management.

In addition, Dr. Nur Fadhilah Khairil Mokhtar from the Halal Product Research Institute, UPM also showcased Porcine Rapid Amplification Kit technology. This Porcine DNA detection kit uses an amplification reaction at one temperature by several oligonucleotides. Amplification results can be seen through discoloration and can be monitored using a machine that measures the amount of fluorescent produced. Interestingly, this technology only takes about 1 hour to detect the presence of Pig DNA using this kit.

At the exhibition, Putra Science Park had the opportunity to hold a press conference to highlight the innovation of Nano Tube Paste produced by used cooking oil by Ts Dr Intan Helina from the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, UPM.

According to Prof. Dr. Mohd Adzir, ReONS is one of the collective efforts and support to achieve the objective of empowering and inspiring research officers to become famous scientists.

Also present, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of the University of Malaya (UM), Prof. Ir. Dr. Shaliza Ibrahim; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of The National University of Malaysia (UKM), Prof. Dato. Dr. Wan Kamal Mujani; Director of the Office of Research Management and Creativity of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Prof. Dr. Zainova Lockman; Director of the Institute of Future Energy (IFE) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Prof. Dr. Arshad Ahmad, and ReONS Chairman Dr. Norfaryanti Kamarudin.
