SERDANG, 26 June - A total of 8 staff members have successfully qualified for the round stage for the mixed petanque competition in conjunction with the Staff Sports Championship (SUSTAF) 2023 for the Gabungan 5 (G5) contingent, namely Mohamad Nazirul Saffuan Bin Mat Halisan, Mohd Rashidi Bin Osman Nusi, Mohamad Haidir Bin Mohamed Noor and Wan Mohd Hafiz bin Wan Baharuddin. Meanwhile, the women's group consists of Nur Mazrah Mat Isa, Suhaili binti Musa, Nor Azizah binti Ismail and Farah Adilah Mohd Zairi.

The team manager, Wan Mohd Hafiz Wan Baharuddin said the Staff Sports Championship (SUSTAF) which is held every year is expected to foster sportsmanship and produce healthy competitive employees in sports activities.

G5 is a combination consisting of Putra Science Park and 18 other UPM PTJs. At SUSTAF 2023, a total of 15 events will be contested including mixed petanque, volleyball, futsal, badminton, netball, foot parade and many more.

According to Nor Azizah Ismail, his participation in SUSTAF this time was his first experience.

"This is my first experience participating in a mixed petanque event. I hope that with this involvement, it can increase my motivation and self-confidence in the field of sports in addition to helping the G5 group to become champions for SUSTAF this year.

The Universiti Putra Malaysia Staff Sports Tournament will take place from 10 July to 4 August 2023.
