KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has signed a Collaboration Agreement (MoU) of the Malaysia Open Science Platform (MOSP) Pilot Project with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) today to strengthen the country's research raw data sharing practices.
MOSP is among the initiatives under the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2021-2030 to promote open data sharing for technology development through research, development, commercialization and innovation (R&D&C&I) in research, industry players and civil society.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UPM, Prof. Dr Nazamid Saari, was present to represent the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, YH. Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman to the MoU at the Academy of Sciences Malaysia here today.
The MoU was also signed by four other research universities, namely Universiti Malaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Through this platform, MOSP is expected to be accessible to the public in December 2022 on information on research projects that have been and are being carried out by the five research universities.
Earlier, PSP Research Officers Asrizam Esam and Norliyana Kamarudin successfully completed the 3-month Training Of Trainers Programme On Data Stewardship For Open Science online to support the implementation of this MOSP.
Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba in his speech said the initiative will enhance research results, thus creating a good solution to the country's latest issues as well as reducing the repetition or duplication of research to be conducted in the future.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) through ASM began leading the MOSP initiative at the end of 2019 to make it easier for Malaysian researchers to share their research raw data.
