Nature Education Program For Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi (PPKI) 2022 Primary School Students

Serdang, 23 November 2022- A total of 35 students from Sekolah SK Putrajaya Precinct 8 (2), SK Putrajaya Precinct 9(2), SK Kota Warisan, SK Salak, and SK Taman Putra Perdana had the opportunity to organize a Nature Education Programme at several locations of Edu-Park, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Through this program, the students are exposed to various activities based on the concept of nature. The students were taken to the Equine Centre, UPM, and explored various interesting activities such as horse feeding, the opportunity to interact with horses, and horse grooming demonstrations.

Next, students are taken to the 10th Integrated Farm where they have the opportunity to explore the farm. Students were exposed to new information on bees, learned to grow vegetables & fruits as well as fed the fish. The facilitators assist and encourage participants to participate in all the activities planned.

Such a hands-on learning method and approach provide a platform for teachers to identify student’s ability thus work as one of the early interventions to optimize them. This learning method incorporates the student's sensory senses, a learning technique that combines theoretical and physical concepts that comprise the aspects of hearing, observation, speech, and kinetic.

Section Edu-Park, Putra Science Park’s ultimate priorities is to ensure a dedicated learning module that implements the concept of learning while playing are fit for every age group.

According to the Research Officer of the Edu-Park Section, Norhidayah Mat Halid said, Edupark has its unique role in attracting the interest and attention of visitors to learn and explore in a more casual but informative way as well as to increase their knowledge. Moreover, UPM is the first university to offer tourism education in the country that has comprehensive modules from various niches of study.
