UPM Researcher Introduces IVC Innovation at MyTech Pitch

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 – UPM researcher, Dr Adi Azriff Basri from the Faculty of Engineering successfully presented intravenous Cannula Protector (IVC Protector) technology that can help patients in the MyTech Pitch programme organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

MOSTI will continue to organise its monthly programme, MyTech Pitch Bil. 8/2021 (Road to Malaysia Commercialisation Year (MCY) Summit 2021) with the theme "Sensor Tech, 4D/5D Printing, 5G/6G and Cyber-security & Encryption" on 7 December 2021 (Tuesday) online.

The main objective of IVC Protector is to design and develop an effective IV cannula protective device (IVC Protector) with a cost-effective design and does not hinder protocols during IV infusion. This IVC Protective Tool has a novelty in terms of one part of the limiting limb and 2 slot holes for safety assurance purposes, carving cavities to further facilitate the removal of medical tape and hole injection parts to facilitate the injection of liquid drugs.

This latest invention is related to developing an insulated IV peacekeeping device that protects the puncture part of the vein on the IV access device from any form of manipulation, thus preventing stripping from occurring.

The MyTech Pitch program is a platform in the form of a product pitching session that finds selected local technology product/technology/service (R&D) researchers with potential start-ups/venture capitals/angel investors as an effort to boost local R&D commercialisation. This program focuses on strategic areas as per the MySTIE 10-10 Framework.

The eighth (8) series of this program will be implemented with the involvement of researchers from Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA), Private Higher Education Institutions (IPTS), Polytechnics, Community Colleges, Local Research Centres with the help of the Research Excellence Division of IPT, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education.
