PSP researcher bags 'Productivity Champion' Award 2022

SERDANG 10 Sept 2022 – Putra Science Park’s Research Officer, Asrizam Esam from Innovation Promotion and Commercialisation Section, Universiti Putra Malaysia has been awarded "Productivity Champion" for the "Practitioner" category introduced by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) on the 1 August 2022 for his outstanding contribution in innovation-related activities.

The MPC recognition award aims to give recognition to individuals who are actively involved in driving the agenda of productivity improvement at the national, industry, and organisational levels. Asrizam, who is currently the Senior Research Officer, at Putra Science Park has served for 18 years in UPM and is actively promoting and marketing UPM's research and innovation products to the industry and the general public.

He is actively involved in the production of innovations in the field of promotion and advertising which has successfully resulted in various innovations namely Skyridder, Skytider, Aircon S.O.S, BoBunting, Recycle Bunting Carrier (RBC), Ezi-SPK and Robo-Arah. Most of the innovations developed are technical and mechanical in the form that can solve specific technical problems in promotional activities that can save time and cost, and improve the efficiency and safety of staff for each work activity carried out.

The innovation has received 6 intellectual property protections, 11 media releases, 3 scientific journals, and books and has earned various recognitions at UPM, national and international levels such as the Par Excellence Award- International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2021) Hyderabad, India, Gold-Malaysia Invention & Innovation Expo 2022, Gold-Annual Productivity & Innovation Conference MPC 2020, Gold -Regional Convention on Team Excellence (RISTEX), Gold- KIK Convention of Public Universities 2019 and 2018.

The innovation project has been carried out continuously through several innovation teams led by the Putra Sky Innovative and Creative Group, Putranovasi, LP1.0, LP2.0, and 1RIA4U individually. He is now active in innovation management including providing partnerships and creative and innovative presentations to the new staff of UPM and also being the jury of the UPM-level innovation competition.

This recognition is also one of the initiatives to accelerate the increase in productivity continued under the 12th Malaysia Plan as well as contribute to higher productivity growth. The MPC hopes that more individuals will receive this award in the future. Hopefully, the recognition received among the management and professional staff of UPM will further nourish the culture of creativity and innovation that will increase productivity, efficiency level, and service to UPM customers.
