KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 – For the first time, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has won the Most Entrepreneurial Public University award at the Ministry of Higher Education Entrepreneurial Awards (MEA) 2016 event.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris received the award which was presented by Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, in the event held at a hotel here.

She received an entrepreneurial development grant valued RM200,000.00, a trophy, plaque and a certificat.

Also present were Deputy Higher Education Minister, Datuk Dr.  Mary Yap Kain Ching, the Ministry’s Secretary-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, Putra Science Park Director, Assoc Prof Dr Samsilah Roslan and CEM Director, Dr. Mass Hareeza Binti Ali @ Hamid.

The awards were presented in appreciation of the initiatives and efforts by higher institutions of learning that performed excellently in education and entrepreneurship development programmes.

UPM Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM) organizing the data information for the MEA and Putra Science Park also contributed input in the aspect of entrepreneurial staff

Innohub program under Putra Science Park, getting attention to the panel of MEA judges during the evaluation session.

Innohub program is an incubation program to train entrepreneurs, especially among ex-students of UPM and UPM researchers to develop start-up company to commercialize UPM technologies.

MEA Evaluation Panel excited about the achievement of program Innohub during information sessions and mini exhibition held during the visit to Putra Science Park in the last evaluation session.
