UPM creates Malaysia's first aquaculture life micro diet food - Suara Merdeka
The development of the aquaculture world as a source of protein has led to a more active culture of fish and shrimp farming today.

In order to increase the growth and survival rate of fish and shrimp larvae in the production of seed stocks, a team of researchers from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has successfully created a micro diet food called FS Feed.
Dr. Muhammad Fadhil Syukri from the Faculty of Agriculture UPM said FS Feed is produced from 100 percent organic ingredients to replace live foods such as Rotifer and Artemia for fish and shrimp seedlings.

He said the increasing demand for Artemia around the world has made its supply and availability limited as well as the prices that are increasing every year.

Dr. Fadhil with his research product, FS Feed.
"Due to the limits and cost of this living food, this FS Feed can be used as an alternative food that replaces live food.

"In addition, FS also provides better fish farming at a lower cost besides it can be easily digested and absorbed by fish larvae," he told reporters.
He added that there are different sizes of this FS Feed ranging from 125 to 500 micrometers, which can be given to the larvae directly without the need for pre-culture or treatment.
It is clear that by using FS Feed the growth rate and survival of fish and shrimp larvae can be maintained better.
In the meantime, he also said the invention of the micro diet food formulation also guarantees the food safety of aquaculture life.
He said fish oil is the main ingredient for this micro food to support the growth and survival of fish and shrimp larvae.
