Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) owns a diverse portfolio of high-impact intellectual property assets with strong potential for industrial commercialisation, spanning the agri-food, biotechnology, healthcare, engineering, digital technology, and environmental sustainability sectors. These innovations are developed through research that is closely aligned with industry and societal needs, with technology readiness levels (TRLs) that are suitable for technology transfer, licensing, or collaborative development with industry partners. Each intellectual property asset is protected through patent, trademark, or copyright registration to safeguard its commercial value and market competitiveness.
As the university’s technology management and transfer centre, Putra Science Park (PSP) plays an active role in identifying, evaluating, and matching UPM’s high-potential intellectual property with the needs of local and global industries. Through strategic approaches such as co-commercialisation, technology matching, intellectual property legal support, and market development guidance, PSP ensures that UPM innovations are translated into high-value products, services, and solutions. These efforts not only strengthen the university–industry innovation ecosystem but also contribute directly to economic growth, enhanced industrial competitiveness, and societal well-being.
