Hulu Selangor Schools Receives Kita Bijak Wang

FELDA SG TENGI, July 20 – Datuk P Kamalanathan A/L P. Panchanathan, Deputy Minister of Education, handed over UPM’s commercial product- Smart Money Kits (Kit Bijak Wang), to 11 schools in the FELDA Hulu Selangor zone and educational aid relief to 10 FELDA students who are currently studying in UPM.

 

Smart Money Kits handed over to Felda Hulu Selangor settlers at the E-cutter: Translational Research Programme of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in collaboration with the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), Hulu Selangor zone at Felda Sg Tengi Selatan Hall.

 

At the event, he distributed 10 units of the Smart Money Kits, research produts by a group of researchers comprised Faculty of Human Ecology lecturer, Associate Prof Dr Mohamad Fazli Sabri, and Teaching Services Officer, Nurhayatul Nira Ramli and Rozita Wahab CEO of PSP-UPM Innnohub Company.

 

Datuk P Kamalanathan who is also Hulu Selangor’s Member of Parliament expressed his hope that UPM would continue to be one of the best research universities in Malaysia and the world and carries on to share its technological innovation with the community.

“It is hoped that the community would make use of these innovations and indirectly cultivate a motivation for the younger generation to study and improve their standard of living in order to bring change to the community’s social economy,” he said.

 

‘Smart Money Kit : Bright Kids Smart Money’, a set containing 10 interactive games as one of the initiatives to enhance public awareness on the best and prudent financial management practices.

 

Dr Mohamad Fazli said 'Smart Money Kit', a translated version from the original Money Smart Kit: Smart Money Smart Kids, was the first of its kind in Malaysia which originated from UPM research, and  suitable for the development of children, aged six to 12 years.

 

“It features 10 amusing interactive games where each game is organised in phases so that children can master the topic well according to their interests, abilities and skills,” he said.

 

Also present at the event were Minister of Higher Education, Dato Seri Idris Jusoh, Deputy Ministers of Higher Education, Datuk Dr Mary Yap Kain Ching; UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof Datin Paduka Dr Aini Ideris and FELDA Deputy Director (Community Development), Anuar Malek.
