20 March 2023, Serdang - Putra Science Park, Universiti Putra Malaysia remains committed to cultivating the reading practise not only limited in the office environment but also at the national level where this program involves the collaboration of the invited speaker from Indonesia. 

 

The Lantera Ilmu Reading Corner, under the READ@UNI Putra Science Park (PSP) programme, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised the Malaysia-Indonesia Reading Culture Practice Partnership Programme aimed at improving the literacy and culture of reading practices as well as enhancing cultural activities among the staff of Putra Science Park, Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) UPM.

The programme which was held at the Lantera Ilmu Reading Corner, Putra Science Park, UPM was conducted on 17 March 2023 from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm Malaysian time. During the sharing session, Ms. Rizdayatul Husna, a student of the Universitas Padang, Indonesia shared her experience as a volunteer with Rumah Baca Rimba Bulan, Indonesia. 

 

The sharing session discussed other practices to improve the literacy and reading culture as well as to share the challenges encountered in managing the reading corner.

According to Asrizam Hj Esam, the main driving force of the Lantera Ilmu Reading Corner, said, various activities were planned throughout the year to ensure the success of the Reading Corner programme. 

 

It is hoped that such a program can be further enhanced to inculcate continuous reading practices and thus improve the reading culture in PSP, RMC, Pertanika under the TNCPI Office UPM.

 

Among other efforts made to nourish the reading culture, the Lantera Ilmu Reading Corner has also added several books where all employees and visitors can explore the reading materials provided. 

 

Reading culture is not only limited to the university level, but targeting the community and international levels.
