18 March, PERAK - The four top management members of the Lantera Ilmu Reading Corner, Putra Science Park UPM visited the Information Resource Center of Universiti Teknologi Petronas on 18 March 2023 as part of a working visit while participating in the National Landscape Day Exhibition 2023 in Ipoh. 

The PSP delegation was welcomed by IRC Senior Executive Officer, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Perak, Pn Siti Nurbaya Abd Karim. According to her, UTP's Information Resource Centre (IRC) began its service in a multipurpose hall that houses more than 20 000 books available to 100 visitors only in the year 1997. 

 

The four members of the Lantera Ilmu Reading Corner who had the opportunity to visit IRC, UTP were led by the President of the Lantera Ilmu PSP Reading Corner, Asrizam Hj Esam, Wan Nuryani Wan Mohamed Rosly Cik Nor Azizah Ismail, and Mohd Hisham Omar. 

"In 1998, the Universiti Teknologi Petronas Library was then rebranded as the Information Resource Center (IRC) which is now known for its fascinating bookshelves architecture which is used to store nearly 100 000 books with facilities to house a capacity of 300 visitors at one time," he added. 

 

In addition to sharing the history of the establishment of IRC, both parties also had the opportunity to hold a sharing session to discuss various interesting activities, practices that can be planned to enhance the reading culture among the university and the local community.  

 

The top management of the Lantera Ilmu Reading Corner, PSP would like to express our gratitude to the management members of IRC, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) for the opportunity given. 

 

Hopefully, such efforts can continue to be carried out from time to time to strengthen the functions of both parties to continue to inculcate the practice of reading and benefit the university staff.
