SERDANG, 29 August 2022 - PSP Innovation Promotion and Marketing Section, UPM highlights the innovation produced by the Lead Researcher, Ts. Dr. Intan Helina Hassan from the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), UPM who has created a technology innovated from used cooking oil to produce Nano Carbon Tube Paste (CNT) at the Putra Cipta Press Conference held at the Office of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) UPM Lobby.
According to Wan Nuryani Wan Mohamed Rosly, the Executive Officer 2 of PSP and the officer in charge of the Putra Cipta Press Conference, the innovation was chosen because of the uniqueness offered to the industry where the production was developed from used cooking oil.
Putra Cipta Press Conference is one of the collaboration activities between the Corporate Strategy and Communication Office of UPM and PSP to promote innovation or products by UPM researchers through mass media to highlight to the industry and the community.
The technology developed is the application of thick film technology to improve antenna performance which involves the process of modifying the composting material and the method of preparation and fabrication of the device that is urgently needed.
Carbon-based material can be used as a conductive layer, thus providing an alternative option to the use of silver as a conductive material. The nano-carbon tube paste (CNT) or called Organic Conductive Pes, has been commercialized by Serdang Paste Tech. Sdn Bhd.
The CNT used is from a patent filed which is CNT cotton produced from used cooking oil waste. CNT-based antennas have shown good results and can be further explored for printable patch antennas in the telecommunications industry.
This innovation is the best solution for faster charging with more flexibility. The antenna can be printed on a flexible subtrat, thus enabling the flexibility of communication devices.

The Director of Putra Science Park, Prof. Ir. Dr. Hj. Kamarul Arifin Ahmad said, UPM is committed to producing and commercialising innovations that can benefit the community and the country.
Putra Science Park as UPM's technology licensing office will continue to ensure that UPM's research and innovation results are made highlighted to the public and target collaboration with the industry to commercialize the best research outcomes of UPM at various levels.
