Roadshow Intellectual Property, UPM Target to Increase the IP Protection Awareness Level

7 March 2023, Serdang – The Intellectual Property Division, Putra Science Park has conducted several Intellectual Property Roadshows to each faculty at Universiti Putra malaysia starting earlier this year and it is planned that such programmes will continue throughout the year.

Such roadshows aim to raise awareness on the importance of protecting every innovation and research outcome to ensure that the quality of intellectual property produced can be protected and maintained.

According to the Deputy Director of Intellectual Property Division, Putra Science Park, Prof. Dr. Rusmawati Said said the roadshow targeted researchers and research group members comprising academic and non-academic staff from various faculties and institutes.

"The purpose of this program is to raise the awareness of researchers in producing products that have novelty value to obtain intellectual property protection. This program also helps to enlighten and understand the importance of protecting their research results," he added.

Among the points emphasized are the protection of patents and copyrights. This program is also one of the platforms that strengthens the relationship between the Intellectual Property Division and the researchers through the question and answer session where various questions and suggestions for improvement are given especially in terms of management and facilitating applications.

To date, the intellectual property roadshow programme has the opportunity to visit several faculties such as the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Food Science and Technology and many more.

Also present at one of the roadshow sessions, the Director of Putra Science Park, Prof. Ir. Dr. Hj. Kamarul Arifin Ahmad had the opportunity to spend time in providing exposure to the faculty involved in the role of Putra Science Park in managing the protection of intellectual property and commercializing research findings to the targeted industries.
