Skyridder Bags Gold Award at MIIX 2022

SERDANG , April 28 - Congratulations Creative and Innovative Group, Langit Putra, Putra Science Park & TNCPI Office UPM, led by Asrizam Esam as well as Muhammad Izzat Nor Adzmi, Mohammad Hisham Omar and Norliyana Kamaruddin, who won the Gold medal at the Malaysia Invention & Innovation Expo (MIIX) 2022 International held online on 28 April 2022.

According to Asrizam, Skyridder's innovation tool is a single-handle wire cutting tool, which has been used in UPM since 2019, will help the community especially solve this problem.  Skyridder, on the other hand, can accelerate 80% of the time of wire removal work compared to the use of stairs, requiring only one operator compared to 2 to 3 people, capable of reaching a height of 5.5 metres above ground level and weighing only 1.7kg.

The main issue is caused by the use of advertising hangers and illegal advertising. Bunting or hangings became the main advertising option of the programme in UPM resulting in a lot of wire being left behind. The installation of new hangers/bunting has become difficult due to the old wire and bunting debris left on the lampposts around UPM after the completion of each program.

The current method of using difficult stairs and the risk of falling down the stairs while lowering the bunting causes the wire to be left idle.

Old wire and wood chips also pollute the scenery and give a negative image to foreign nationals.

The heavy use of stairs and each lamppost location has various obstacles such as narrow spaces, trees, drains, road dividers. There are also special tools that are imported at a high cost and have limitations from height reach. Lack of awareness of the wire left polluting the environment and the scenery.

It is hoped that the results of this innovation will also increase the awareness of the community as well as industry players on the issue of the cleanliness of the lampposts that have been seen as deserted over the years.

Local Authorities also play an important role every year to address this issue, but the cleanliness of the lampposts in the community area is still the responsibility of the community itself.

It is hoped that there is an industry that aims to collaborate with UPM so that it can be commercialized so that this innovation can benefit the community, industry and the environment.
