UPM Participates in Festival of Ideas 2022

PUTRAJAYA, October 11 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) highlighted six innovations in conjunction with the Festival of Ideas exhibition organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in collaboration with UPSI and UTM from 29 September to 12 October 2022.

 

The Festival of Ideas is an innovation exhibition aimed at celebrating the emergence of new ideas of researchers in line with the development of higher education in the era of industrial revolution 4.0.

Putra Science Park (PSP) as upm's intellectual property leader highlighted a total of six UPM innovation products as well as promoting Edu-Park, a tourism package in the form of learning modules offered to the community with 12 interesting places around the university environment.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Hj. Kamarul Arifin Ahmad, Director of Putra Science Park said, FOI provides a platform for higher learning institutes to reach out to the community and share the benefits of innovation products developed as well as increase the visibility of UPM in promoting the tourism aspect which is based on the concept of 'Play, Learn and Stay Young'.

The six innovations highlighted through this exhibition are Bio-Esst Nanoemulsion Skin Serum with Oleate, Milagro Motado, Harvast Booster Photosynthesis, Sari Rasa Sauce and Pumpkin Paste, Rajawali Coffee and Thohira Synbiotics.

PSP also had the opportunity to conduct an interview session with journalists on two UPM innovation products that are now hot in the market of Rajawali Coffee and Sari Rasa Sauce and Pes Labu.

The Sari Rasa Sauce and Pumpkin Paste by the Lead Researcher, Dr. Siti Nurhayati Khairatun said, pumpkin is known for its various properties such as being rich in essential vitamins and minerals can now be enjoyed by the community in interesting variations such as sauces and food paste.

"The pumpkin sauce serves as a flavour-enhancing alternative that provides a twist in terms of texture, and additional nutrients. It is minimally processed and made from healthy and nutrient-dense ingredients," she added.

The FOI exhibition brings together UPM researchers from various faculties such as the Faculty of Agriculture, the Centre for the Foundation of Agricultural Sciences, the Faculty of Biotechnology and Agricultural Sciences, the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and the Faculty of Food Science and Technology UPM in promoting their products in public.

UPM's participation in the Festival of Ideas exhibition ended on 12 October 2022 at 5.00 pm with an overwhelming response from the crowd.
